On Thursday May 11th I had the pleasure of attending the World of Darkness Berlin convention to celebrate the release of the World of Darkness - The Documentary by Giles Alderson, written and produced by Kevin Lee about iconic roleplaying game Vampire the Masquerade. This event was held at the classic Ehemaliges Stummfilmkino Delphi Berlin built in 1929 (this is where some Endless Night Vampire Ball events took place so it was very familiar to me).
This documentary explores the history of the White Wolf the company behind the legendary storytelling game. “Vampire” has had an enormous impact on vampire culture, fiction, mythos, literature and greatly inspired films like Blade and Underworld. Charline Harris creator of the Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels (True Blood) found majority of the inspiration her world of vampires, werewolves, faeries and witches. It includes interviews with creators, artists, founders, fans and principles who have been apart of this IP for over 25 years.

World of Darkness - The Documentary was very intense, depicting the history ups and downs of the IP, the changes it influenced to the roleplaying and gaming community and the sad ending to a massive MMO which would have brought you right into the World of Darkness. It is an excellent story which has never been told before and can introduce the world to old and new fans alike.

The documentary will tour a series of film festivals and is seeking distribution with hopes of going on a network such as Netflix, Hulu or Amazon and a possible distribution release in 2018 worldwide.
